2) They were scared that Equality was smarter than them.

2. They are worried cause Equality out smarted them and found a way back for the light, that they had taken away. They've never seen someone do that and be as smart as Equality.

2) I believe the real reason is they knew about electricity and what it grew into and didn't want to go back to that time.
